They have been possibly extirpated, or gone extinct in a specific region, in Antigua and Barbuda. In most of their range, American Flamingo population is increasing. Plastic pink flamingos have been a popular lawn decoration since the late 1950’s. The croquet mallets in the Disney adaptation of Alice in Wonderland are flamingoes. Because of their quirky colors and interesting proportions, they have been seen in many movies, signage, and even front gardens. Cultural Connectionsįlamingos are an iconic bird in American popular culture. Once the chick hatches, the parents will feed it a nutrient-rich secretion similar to milk to help the chick grow. The parents lay one egg and both take turns incubating. Once they find a mate, they will build a volcano-shaped mud cone as a nest. They choose a mate based on which bird has the movements closest to theirs. Reproductionĭuring courtship, Flamingos perform a large group dance. In the zoo they get a special moistened food called Mazuri Flamingo Complete and Flamingo Breeder. In the wild flamingos eat crustaceans, algae, worms, mollusks, and some vegetation. In the wild the life expectancy is 40 years, and in zoos it can be up to 50 years. The most distinctive feature of the flamingo is its bright pink coloration, covering most of the body feathers. Physical Description/Characteristicsįlamingos are three to four feet tall, and weigh between six and eight pounds. Salt water habitats including salt lakes and coastal lagoons. Not too far behind you’ll find the next player to enter this space: Apple with Keynote. AppleĪpple’s founders, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, created their company in 1976, just one year after Microsoft. Their initial focus was on making computers accessible and small enough so everyone could have one in their home or office. Yet it wasn’t until 2003 that Apple caught on to the presentation application bandwagon with its Keynote program. That’s 14 years later than Microsoft debuted PowerPoint - big difference!Įven still, Apple has more time in the presentation realm than Google Slides has under its belt. Meanwhile, Katie is ready to be single and remains hopeful about finding love. “I wish I had a scapegoat, but that’s all on me.” “hat’s all on me,” he told a photographer in L.A. Tom - who has been seen still wearing his wedding ring post-split - has insisted that he’s to blame for the relationship failing and not his BFF Tom Sandoval. The former couple were married for six years, and together for 12, before Katie ended things. But when everything else inside of you is telling you that you deserve more, you have to listen to that.” Katie Maloney & Tom Schwartz (Photo: Shutterstock) “It’s really hard not to think about all of the best times and your wedding. Looking towards her future, Katie confidently said that she feels “very strongly that I’m doing the right thing.” “But it doesn’t make it easer,” she noted. I felt like I was drifting further and further away.” “That’s just what everything inside of me was saying, I thought it got to a point where I just felt like I was going to burst,” she said. For a long time I sat with it and I thought about it and I didn’t talk to anyone.” Katie explained that she “didn’t prioritize” her happiness and “was not fulfilled” while married to Tom. The Bravo star continued, “Ultimately I just wasn’t happy. But the best and only way I can describe it is waking up inside of my life and having this voice that just became louder and louder.” “It was my decision which was probably the hardest and most painful decision I’ve ever had to make. “There wasn’t some kind of crazy fight that resulted in this,” she explained. Katie, who got emotional at times during the podcast episode, elaborated more on what led to the breakup. We do still live together in our house and we are just trying to navigate these steps together and really work on becoming friends.” Katie Maloney & Tom Schwartz (Photo: Shutterstock) The transition is so far going really well. “But it’s also been in ways peaceful and loving. “It’s been emotional for sure,” Katie said. Katie Maloney, 35, opened up about her split from husband Tom Schwartz, 39, on the latest episode of her podcast, You’re Gonna Love Me. The Vanderpump Rulesstar explained that it’s “been a little over a month” since the pair “separated” before they publicly announced their split March 15. What we see at Gladstone aren’t leftovers and docu-fragments from Detroit we see enormous sculptures that show Barney thinking and, as it were, drawing and dreaming in bronze, iron and lead. This is Barney basic, the artist he really is and, I think, has been beneath the trappings all along. There are no phantasmagorical sculptural objects made of bizarre materials like white tapioca or “self-lubricating plastic.” Yet unlike his previous outings, there are no live animals in the gallery, no long, elliptical videos with scenes featuring aquatic Asian sprites or the artist as a satyr with seven Jacobean doves lifting his scrotum heavenward. The sight is typically visionary, Boschian and ambitious. Arriving in Detroit the next day to deliver an unrelated lecture, I was regaled with tales of the harrowing extravaganza, including the assurances of two women that Barney’s performance was “more intense than childbirth.”Īfter a five year hiatus from the gallery scene here in New York, Barney is back, with, among other things, a huge sculpture that is the result of the Detroit spectacle. In the spectacular finale, five enormous customized furnaces poured molten metal, including parts of the Imperial, into a fiery casting pit that drained into a mold of a massive Egyptian Djed, an ancient symbol associated with Osiris, whose own body was cut up into pieces before it was retrieved and reassembled. There was also actress-athlete Aimee Mullins as Egyptian goddess Isis, seated semi-naked on an engine block filled with live, writhing snakes. It also rained apocalyptically that day, and Barney’s performance included a freezing barge ride down the Detroit River, where the audience witnessed, among other things, a crane dredging up a 1967 Chrysler Imperial. Detroit was the perfect setting for this tale of woe and reincarnation, an economic and spiritual city of the dead and would-be rebirth. A year ago October 1, my flight was canceled, so I missed KHU, a sprawling, multisited, outdoor, all-day performance Barney staged in Detroit at who knows what astronomical cost for a hand-picked audience of around 200. Alas, I was not one of them, although I was supposed to be. A lot of people recently suffered for Matthew Barney’s art. I suggest that you don't need to actually have driven a group B rally car to see that a simulation of that car on a video doesn't behave like a real thing on a video. I honestly wouldnt judge how realistic this game is unelss youve actually driven a rally car on a rally stage. to me its getting out of control quite easily if you tap that gas pedal just slightly too early out of a corner i dont think the bmw e30 is that easy to drive, perhaps youre just a talented driver, it took me a long while to get used to that car. in my experience, driving an actual car is far easier than driving one in a sim but ive never driven a rally car in an offroad stage so im not gonna judge really. crashing in rally can be extremely dangerous, i doubt somebody will take a risk at a dangerous corner if that corner gives you about one second but that one second doesnt mean a whole lot in rally. track racing is about perfection, getting your car to the limit, rally is about survival, not about perfection but rather consistency. a real rally driver doesnt have that luxury, he cant just replay and drive another lap, he got a single shot, if he does a mistake, hes out. in dirt rally you can replay a track over and over again, perfecting the track to the point where you dont need a co driver or indicators. theres somewhat of a comparison to be made but not in rally. in track racing, you spend about 90 seconds on the track over and over again perfecting it. Obviously I'm not a professional rally driver I'm not even that good at other sim racing games, so that only leads me to one conclusion. I still struggle with drifting on Assetto Corsa, but in this game I can whip out the back end and catch it after a corner without even thinking. I've read an awful lot of articles, and everyone seems to say that it's almost like the real deal, but I honestly can't believe that. I'm not saying I'm good at the game, but just the fact that I can keep a 1980s E30 on the road in a snowy, windy track at 80 mph only 6 hours into the games makes me think that it's not at all realistic. I'm only 6 hours in to DiRT Rally, and despite the fact that I've had a lot of sim practice before coming to DiRT, I can't imagine that I'd be anywhere close to this competent on a real stage. This mod can be safely used online (it is a separate app, just like Telemetry Tool). How realistic actually is it? On all of my racing sims combined, I have a total of about 200 hours, I use a T-150 FFB wheel, and an Oculus Rift.
